Dukes Pull Off 2nd Upset

Dixon (Bowers Field) - For the second week in a row the Dukes have managed to keep their football season alive as they upset Chicago Robeson 18-8 Saturday afternoon.

The Dukes in what is the schools 5th playoff appearance ever have already doubled their post season record of 1-4 with their 2 victories so far this season.

While Dixon looked like they were just a big play from getting knocked out of Cinderella's carriage through the first half, a charged up Dukes defense was key to their 18-8 upset of the Raiders.

Robeson had been using the speed of wideouts Charles Brown & Brandon Green against Dixon, but a few over thrown balls stopped what could have been Robeson touchdowns.

The Raiders scored at the start of the 2nd quarter on a 25 yard reception from Jonathon Johnson to Green., but a crucial interception by Jordan Kettler (RB/LB 6' 185 jr.) on the goal line stopped what would have been Robeson's second TD.

Green would repay the favor as he halted what had been Dixon's best dive of the day with his own interception of Dukes QB Bryce Lumzy (5'11 160 jr.) with 16 second left in the half.

Peyton Lumzy (DL 6'2 230 sr.) would recover a RObeson fumble on the Robeson 35, setting up a Saul Capilla 25 yard field goal to give the Dukes their first points of the game.

Anthony Dillabough (RB 5'8 160 sr.) was able to beat a couple of Robeson defenders as he sprinted down the sidelines for a 41 yard touchdown reception to start the 4th quarter and give the Dukes a 11-8 lead.

The Dukes would work on playing ball control offense, but were forced to give the ball up, but a couple of turnover from both teams lead to an intense final quarter, until Kettler finished off a Dukes drive with a 1 yard plunge to put Dixon up by the final 18-8.
