Coach Charles Cottle Loses Fight With Cancer

 

(10/25/2002) - Hall of Fame inductee Charles Cottle 58 of Webster Grove, Missouri died Sunday evening October 20, after a short battle with Cancer.

Cottle coached at Springfield (Southeast), and then started the football program atChatham (Glenwood)high school, where he was 65-42-1 in 12 years, going 5-4 in their first varsity season. He then moved to Murphysboro and led the Red-Devils to four straight playoff appearances with a 38-15 record over 5 years and took Murphysboro to their only State Semi Final semi- final appearance in 1988. Charlie Cottle was a father of two children (Trevor and Leslie) and a grand father of three.
