1st Round 8A Playoffs vs.Naperville
Central (6-4)
Fisher Open, For Raiders RallyBolingbrook - With 58 seconds left and 95 yards to go, the Naperville Central players were looking for a miracle to prolong their season as well as the career of their head coach Joe Bunge, but Bolingbrook, who had gotten a lower seed in the playoffs than they were expecting since before the season started, had different plans. Dale Martin (RB 5'11 200 jr.) scored the Raiders first touchdown of the night on a 1 yard run with 58 second left in the 1st quarter, after Sean Hughes (WR 6'4 210 sr.), who had several big receptions Friday night, was pushed out of bounds on a 39 yard pass. The Raiders would have problems with their kicking game though, as they would miss their PAT as well as two field goal attempts later in the game, both with different kickers. The next score in the game wouldn't come until the 7 minute mark in the 4th on a 5 yard run by Sean Joyce (RB 6' 190 sr.), as both teams battle back and fourth around mid field. Raiders linemen Maurice Hill (6'2 260 sr.), Mike Gaines (5'11 195 sr.) & P.J. South (6'4 232 sr.) made some big stops at the line of scrimmage, along with linebackers Lonnie Posley (5'1 203 sr.) & Jessie Alanis (5'11 200 jr.). Joyce who was the majority of the offense for the Hawks, was shaken up on his touchdown, but was able to walk off the field. Naperville would make their extra point and command a 1 point lead. That lead however would be short lived as the Raiders would drive down the field. With a 48 yard reception by Hughes, giving them great field position. Naperville's Nick Mondek (6'5 230 jr.) would tackle Bolingbrook QB Javon Stewart for a loss, placing the Raiders in a 3rd & 15 situation. Stewart would find speedster Carl Fisher (WR 6'0 200 sr.) open in the front corner of the end zone & connect with him on a 15 yard strike. A 2 point conversion pass to Hughes would give the Raiders a 7 point lead with 3:50 left in the game. A big sack by Alanis would force the Hawks to punt on their next possession, but the Hawks would come right back and do the same to Bolingbrook, to get the ball back for their final possession of the season with 58 seconds left and 95 yards to go.
