Week #6 Chicago (Dyett)(2-4)
10/1/2005

Leon Harrell, sackes Dyett's Dander Wilson for a safety.

Defensive Battle Goes to King

Chicago (Gately Stadium) - While the score doesn't nesecarily show it, this Saturday CPL, Great Lakes conference match up was a hard hitting defenseive battle.

At one point late in the 4th quarter, King's defense had been in the backfield of Dyett so frequently, you would have thought that Dyett players had been confused about which team they were playing for. And while both teams colors are black & gold, we're pretty sure that wasn't the case. The Jaguars had just been dominate on defense, coming within 3 yards of breaking the record for least offensive yards in a game for the CPL & 6 yards shy of the state mark of minus 63.

But it was almost as if the Dyett sideline hear the mubling in the press box, as just a few plays later Tomav Davis, would bust off a 65 yard TD run with 2:29 left to play making the final score 29-14.

Needless to say Kareem Joyner, Antonio Davalos & Leon Harrell, all made their rounds in the Eagles backfield. Davalos, had a couple of tackles for a loss, while Joyner had a few tackles for a loss as well, his big moment of disruption came on a punt block deep in Dyett territory. Which was recoverd on the 2 yard line and ran in for a TD by Johnny Lowe. Putting the Jaguars up 6-0, which is where the score remained until the start of the second half. Harrell, found a scoring oppurtunity in a differnet way, he sacked Dyett's Dander Wilson, for a safety.

Things started to look like they might go south for King, as the kick off to start the second half was fumbled and recovered by King, backing them up against their own goal. Things got even worse as they turned the ball over to Dyett on a fumble on the very first play after the kick off.

The Eagles would not over look this scoring oppurtunity, as Hakam Heelth, would take it in from 5 yards out to tie the game at 6 a piece.

King's other 2 scores would come from a 52 yard kick return by Timothy Franklin & a 68 yard run by Darnell Ratcliff.

Ratcliff would finsih the game with 130 yards on 21 carries for the day. Heelth was the leading tackler for Dyett, with 8 tackles on the day, whil Jerrell Parks (DB 5'8 165 jr.) for King get's a special mention for teh several devistating hits he had in the game, on defense & kick offs
