Clinton's three game winning streak came to an end when the Maroons were
run over by tailback Quartus Stitt and the Argenta-Oreana Bombers. Stitt
rushed for 256 yards and three touchdowns as A-O put 55 points on the
board against a defense that had been allowing only an average of 11 per
game. In addition, quarterback J.W. Sheering and tailback Ontario Sneed
were knocked out of the game with injuries in the 2nd Quarter. Both are
expected to recover in the near future and may play in the next game.
Offensively, Clinton gained a respectable 335 yards, with back-ups Justin
Rasor passing for 113 yards(6-10) and Tim Lamkin rushing for 90 yards
and a touchdown. Fullback Sam Tuggle had the other two scores. But the
defense allowed a total of 332 yards rushing by the Bombers and QB Joe
Oyler threw for 95 yards(7-10) and 2 TD's.
The Maroons(3-1) will have to bounce back on the road at Okaw leader Decatur
