NFL Draft Day 2001

The NFL Draft came and went this year and if you were like many of the other residents of Illinois wondering who if anybody was a IHSF player we've got the answers for you.

Illinois clocked in with 7 former high school players getting picked by various NFL teams. California & Texas were the two largest sources of talent. How did Illinois neighbouring states fair? Wisconsin & Missouri both had 4 each, Iowa had 3 & Indiana had one. Missouri had the most representatives go in the first round. With Justin Smith from Jefferson City HS, Jefferson City, Mo. going 4th overall to the Cincinnati Bengals & Jamar Fletcher from Hazelwood East HS, St. Louis, Mo.going 26th to the Miami Dolphins. Wisconsin also had a first rounder in Michael Bennett from /Milwaukee Tech HS going 27th overall to the Vikings.
