Week #2

Jason Hutton picks off a Vocation pass and returns it for a touch down in Young's 48-0 Victory.

Quick game for Whitney Young, not quick enough for Vocational

On a hot and muggy August night the last thing you want to do is spend more time in pads then you have too. Jason Hutton & Nate Harrington made sure that didn't happen.

After loosing 48-6 to 4A semifinalist Geneseo (Darnall), Whitney Young decided to invoke the 40 point rule themselves in a 48-0 trowncing of unsuspecting Chicago Vocational.

Starting QB Nate Harrington went 5 for 5 with 129 yrds and 3 TD passes. Not to mention a 50 yard punt return for a TD. Three of Harrington's completions went to surehanded TE Jason Hutton (79 yrds). Hutton not only scored on two of those three receptions, but he had also picked off a Vocational pass and returned it 26 yrds for a TD.

Whitney Young worked through some early penalties problems to go up 41-0 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. It was about this time that the coaches started to remind their players not to let up "we want the shut out" is what they were saying on the sidelines.

Vocational had a little help in running up the score though. After getting their first punt blocked and returned for a TD, they opted to go for it on 4th and 2 at their own 24 during their next possession. Young's defense made the stop and scored a few plays later.
