Week #3 vs.Maroa
(M.-Forsyth)3-0
Maroons Run Over By Trojans Maroa (Maroa-Forsyth HS) – The battle of Route 51 proved to be more of a field day for the Trojans. Only seven miles separate the rival two high schools and tonight the Trojans continued their winning ways without missing a step. Maroa received the ball first in the game and drove down the field, courtesy of some hard running from running back Shane Conaway. Moroa’s leader, Quarterback Luke Hockaday, finished the drive off with a quick 6 yard touchdown strike to Robert Kreps. Travis Tracer tacked on the PAT to put Maroa-Forsyth up 7-0 with 6:51 left in the first quarter. Hockaday continued to dazzle fans by adding 2 more touchdown passes in the first quarter, both to Austin Peebles. The Trojans kept firing on all cylinders by adding three more touchdowns in the second quarter. The first was a 3 yard touchdown completion from Hockaday to Kreps. Reed Sullivan played a great game on defense. His day was highlighted by intercepting 2 passes. The first pick gave Maroa the ball at the Maroon 9 yard line. From there, Josh Norton punched the ball in from the 4 to make the score 32-0. Then with 43 ticks left on the clock in the first half, Hockaday fired a 19 yard pass to Blake Grimmet for six. The Trojans took a commanding halftime lead of 39-0. Reed Sullivan struck again in the 3rd quarter by picking off Keith England’s pass and returning it 13 yards to the house. Tyler Rousch put the Trojans over 50 points for the first time this season with a 16 yard touchdown run early in the fourth. The final score turned out to be 51-0, Trojans. Just like in Week 1 there are very few bright spots for the Maroons. There were many bright spots for the Trojans, however. Luke Hockaday finished completing 11 of 12 passes for148 yards and 5 touchdowns. Maroa’s quick as can be running back, Shane Conaway, added 106 yards on 18 carries. The Trojans continue to run over their opponents and next week will face the Monticello Sages, while the Maroons will host the Argenta-Oreana Bombers, in practically a must win game if the Maroons are to make a playoff run. by: Matt Eshelman
