Welcome to Playoff Central. IHSFW.com gives you an in depth look at how the playoffs may take shape, by putting you right in the middle of our information control room. We break down who we think is the best bet to win it all and who are the most likely challengers. We also give you a list of the dark horse teams, or sleepers. Those teams that are overlooked throughout the year, but may sneak up o you in the playoffs or those pesky 6-3 & 5-4 teams that don't know when to quit. You can also get the latest info on what games you shouldn't miss each round in "The Big Game" & who the best teams in the state are regardless of class "The Big 30".

Brackets & Scores
1A / 2A / 3A / 4A / 5A / 6A / 7A / 8A

2006 Title Game Date & Time; Nov. 24th 7 pm

Last Years Champ; Manlius (Bureau Valley)(14-0) Runner-up;Tolono (Unity)(13-1)

Favorites to win the title;Anna (A.-Jonesboro)9-0, Manlius (Bureau Valley) 9-0 & Plano 9-0
Other Title Threats;Decatur (St. Teresa) 8-1, Hillsboro 9-0,St. Joseph (S.J.-Ogden)9-0 &Tolono (Unity)8-1
The Dark Horses;Rockford (R. Christian)7-2 & DuQuoin 7-2

Favorites to win the title;
Anna (A.-Jonesboro)9-0 - The A-J defense is giving up just under 7 points a game. With a sound win over rival DuQuoin the Wildcats broke DuQuoin's 6 year run as conference champs.

Manlius (Bureau Valley) 9-0 - Garrett Barnes is back and the Storm are the team to beat out of the Favorites in 3A.

Plano 9-0 - There's no question whether Nick Nasti & the Reapers are a favorite to win this years 3A title. The real question is no that they're not sneaking up on other teams in the Interstate 8 Conference & the playoffs, will they still be the team to beat in the coming seasons or are they going to disappear again for 10 years?

Other Title Threats;
Decatur (St. Teresa) 8-1 - Sean Dunning set the states single season rushing record last year and that was only with 12 games. The Bulldogs will need all they can get from him and the rest of the team if they want to see 14 games this year. A tough climb to the top could include Hillsboro, Unity or SJO then Anna-Jonesboro.

Hillsboro 9-0 - The Hilltoppers haven't allowed more than 13 points in any game. Their last 6 games featured 3 shutouts & two games that allowed just 6 points.

St. Joseph (S.J.-Ogden)9-0 &Tolono (Unity)8-1 - Anybody who knows some of the states great rivalries was probably bummed out when the SJO - Unity game wasn't on the regular season schedule. Well thank the playoff gods, as these tow could meet in Tolono in the 2nd round. The winner of that game could bring a serious challenge for the title.

The Dark Horses;
Rockford (R. Christian)7-2 - The Royal Lions could be a Royal pain for a few unsuspecting teams. Putting up almost 40 points a game the only question is which team will come out to play in the post season? The team that clobbered Mooseheart (6-3) 50-7 or the team that barely beat 3-6 North Shore County Day, 15-8 in week 9.

DuQuoin 7-2 - WIth 5 regular season opponents making the post season and the Indians making their 23rd consecutive playoff appearance, you can never count head coach Al Martin and his team out, until they're out.
