Mighty Men KO's Lane Tech
Dunbar knocks out Lane Tech in the city playoffs for the second year in a row.
(Hanson Stadium- Chicago, IL) - On election day, the Dunbar Mightymen displayed a convincing victory over the Lane Tech Indians with a 12-0 shutout. Dunbar quarterback Caesar Davis threw only 3 passes the whole game one of which was an interception. So Dunbar, led by all-city running back Emmanuel Garner Dunbar relied on steady running game to grind out the win. Garner led Dunbar with 28 carries on 116 yards and 1 touchdown. Meanwhile the Dunbar defense did it's job holding Lane Tech to 163 total yards for the game while punishing Lane Tech and possession of the ball for most of the game. Dunbar's points came on a 18 yard touchdown run from Jerome Lassiter after a Lane Tech turnover and a 1 yard touchdown run by Emmanuel Garner.
Lane has never been shut out in a game in recent years and it's been a long time since Lane has been shut out by a Public League opponent. Lane finishes the season 6-5 and with last years 6-4 record Lane has now finished two seasons in a row with 6 wins.
This is the second year in a row that Dunbar has ended Lane's season. Next up for Dunbar is the powerful Robeson team in the Public League semi-finals.
