Week #11 vs.Chicago (Brother Rice)(10-1)
Defense Help End Mustangs' Season Chicago (Gary Little Stadium) - Tom Dwyer (sr. WR/DB 6'2 175) isn't the only reason that the Crusaders are advancing to the 8A quarterfinals, but two big plays helped put them over the top against the Mustangs Friday night. Dwyer had 4 recpetions for 104 yards, one of which was a 38 yard TD from Dan Nicholson (sr. QB 6'3 190) which helped give the Crusaders the only lead they'd need. Dwyer also recovered a punt that was fumbled by the Mustangs after they put together some momentum on defense late in the third quarter. Nicholson was 8 of 11 for 111 yards with 1 TD. The drive in which the Dwyer scored was the biggest drive of the night as both teams defenses came ready to play, holding each other to a combined total of 261 offensive yards for the game. Pat Walsh (so. TE/LB 5'11 170) was also another shining point on defense as he saved the Crusaders from going into half time tied as he picked off a Bob Dreveny (sr. QB 6'3 191) pass with 10 seconds left & Downers South on the 16 yard line of Brothe Rice.
