Week #3 vs. Wilmette (Loyola Academy) (3-0, 1-0)
Harvey & Badovinac Lead Ramblers RoutWilmette (Sachs Stadium) - Mark Harvey (RB 5'7 165 sr.) & Peter Badovinac (QB 6'3 210 sr.) combined for for 5 touchdowns to help the Ramblers open up conference play at 1-0. Harvey started the scoring off with what could be the best punt return of the year, for an 88 yard touchdown after getting the ball off of a bounce and being hit immediately be 2 Brother Rice defenders. Head coach John Holecek was asked how he felt about Harvey taking punts in dangerous situations, replying, "He's done that in practice, he's done that a ton. I'm very comfortable with him fielding it. I trust that kid." After the initial hit Harvey said he wasn't thinking to much just "I'm just looking for good colored jerseys. No ugly white & orange." Brother Rice answered right back with a drive that ended on a 5 yard touchdown pass to Neil Sullivan (WR 6'1 180 sr.). tying it up 7-7, but it would be all Loyola from there on out as Badovinac hit Blase Viti (WR 5'8 155 jr.) on a 42 yard TD pass with 4:00 still left in the first and then Tim Connelly (WR 6'1 180 sr.) on a 38 yard pass just a minute into the 2nd quarter. The Rambler defense showed up after that, limiting the Crusaders from getting any kind of a drive together until the last minutes of the 4th. Badovinac would pull a QB sneak for a 1 yard TD, but only after Harvey cramped up on a 56 yard run and was tripped up at the 3 yard line, 2 minutes into the 2nd half. Harvey then capped off the Ramblers scoring with a 1 yard TD run in the third quarter as well. A drive that was set up by a Matt Mugnaini interception off Brother Rice QB Tom Gibson (QB 5'11 155 jr.). Gibson finished with just over 80 yards, 2 TDs and that pick. Badovinac wound up 8 -12 with 136 yards, 2 TDs passing & 1 rushing. Harvey finished with 113 yards on the ground. The Crusaders had one bright spot in ground game and that was 5'4" Dade Dwayne. Dwayne had 7 attempts for 40 yards. "He's little, but he's got good feet. Good Vision and a good spin move." said Holecek. by Vincent Johnson Help keep your school's fans up to date.
