Week #2 vs. Chicago
(Corliss)
Some Questions AnsweredChicago (Gately Stadium) - Daryll Hendricks may have come away with a career high best after Saturday afternoon’s game against Corliss, as theTigers won 44-6, but head coach Tim Dougherty sounded a little less thrilled than the landslide core would have lead you to believe. When asked about the 100 yards or so the Tigers racked up in penalties, some of which were late hits & personal foulsDougherty had this to say, “I don’t know. The first game we had was pretty clean. I’ve got to look at the film. Some of them on behalf of us were undisciplined… We generally play clean football”. Dougherty was quick to point out that Hendricks big day came from a lot of preparation and high ambition the third year starter has set for himself. Hendricks had 7 carries for 172 yards with 2 rushing TDs. He also added 2 touchdowns on 2 receptions. The Tigers went to work right away as Corliss deferred to start the first. Three plays later, Hendricks would rip off a 60 yard run for the Tigers first and only score they needed to win. Ish Roundtree (QB 5’10 170 jr.) went 5 for 6 for 85 and 2 TDs for the Tigers as Hendricks lead pretty much in all stats. Corliss was able to tick away a lot of time on the clock thanks to the rushing of Derek Davis (RB 5’9 170 sr.). Davis knocked off 111 yards and the Trojans’ lone score of the game. Defensive ly Tavor Ludy was one of several Tiger defender that registered sacks, one of his was for a safety in the third quarter. While giving up 44 points won't get the Trojans a defense of the week nod, they did manage to strip the ball from Edwardsville on three different plays, recovering two. The time the defense spent on the field was an aspect of the game that Dougherty wasn’t to happy about. Saying he was disappointed that the defense let Corliss sustain some long drives. “They didn’t score, but we’ve got to get the ball back.” Overall, Dougherty says there are still more questions unanswered than he’s like going in to the third week of the game, but he was able to take away a few good things from the game. “I think we’ve found a couple of players we were looking for.” by Vincent Johnson
