Week #9 Fri 7pm Friday night in Spring Valley two of the top rated teams in 3A will square off, as the Saints of BCC take on the Red Devils of Hall. Both teams are an impressive 7-1 with their lone loses coming at the hands of Big 30 ranked teams. Central Catholic lost to #21 Pontiac & Hall lost to #12 Rochelle. Fri 7:30 Both teams are 6-0 in conference play
in theSuburban Prairie (North)and will be looking to win the conference title. Fri 5:30 Huntley is having an impressively surprising season. Not many critics predicted them... actually no one predicted they would go from 1-8 to a possible 8-1. All they need to do now is knock off repeat 2A State Champs Stillman Valley to make the miraculous turn around and capture the Big Northern (White) conference title. Week #7 Sat 10/6 7pm @ Gately
Stadium Providence will be looking to get the MC monkey off it's back. They have yet to win any of the 5 match ups between the 2 teams. Two of the 5 were state final games and two more went into overtime. Mt. Carmel has handed decisive losses to #4Joliet (Catholic), previously ranked and south side rivalChicago (St. Rita), as well as a tough Oak Park (Fenwick). Providence has knock off #14Bolingbrook, St. Rita & Fenwick also, behind the break away running of Mike Mentz, who has compiled a few 200 plus games rushing this season. But, the Caravan D led by captain Niall Campbell & Tom Treadway will be looking to slow him down. Caravan coach Frank Lenti has amassed 204 wins over his tenure and Providence coach Matt Senffner has 251. Fri 10/5 7:30 pm @ North
Central College Central will have a bone to pick, since the 2000 preseason Hawks were picked to go all the way and North ended that in the quarter finals, before being knocked off themselves by DVC sleeper Glendbard North. Fri 10/5 7pm The Knights are looking to remain a top seed come playoff time. Thornton is looking to step up now that Lincoln-Way doesn't have the same number of students to draw from. After loosing to #19 Orland Park (Sandburg) & #28 Lockport (Twp.), the Knights will be looking for an upset of their own. Week #6 Fri 9/28 7pm A great matchup, that's a repeat of lasts years 1A state finals which Carthage won 14-0. Carthage finished the season 13-1 though and that only loss was from a week four 23-22 victory by Sciota which stopped Carthage's 31 game winning streak. Sciota has the the most points scored by any team in the state 306, and have allowed the fewest 8. Fri 9/28 7:45pm Week #5 Fri 9/21 South's chance at an undefeated season and their shot at the Central Suburban (South) conference title was dashed last year by the Trevians, but Maine South got the last laugh when they won the 6A title. This is a great matchup any season. The only game more competitive for New Trier is with neighboring town #30Wilmette (Loyola Academy), who've they lost to already this season. Don't think they'll just lay down for the Red Hawks who face New Trier this year on their turf. Fri 7:45 Bloomington (Central Catholic)(4-0) @ Pontiac (3-1) Last year a tough Pontiac team that made the semifinals in 4A, almost fell to a inexperienced junior laden Saints team in a 21-7 win, where the score didn't really reflect the closeness of the game. Central Catholic is ready to claim the conference title this season, but Pontiac is no push over this year. Look for a hard nose smash mouth game as the Saints travel to Pontiac. Fri 7:30 #6 Naperville (North) (4-0) @Carol Stream (Glenbard North)(3-1) The Battle of "RE's" as in REspect & REvenge Most DuPage Valley conference match-ups are spectacular, add in the fact that Glenbard North beat Naperville North 22-12 for the right to play in the 6A state finals and you've got a classic game. Glenbard North was the real sleeper team last year. They got no respect from most polls until they made the finals. Guess what? This year is no different. The Panthers will be looking for respect & the Huskies will be looking for revenge. Week #3 Fri 9/7 7:30 Dunbar will be looing to knock off it's third non-city team. While Sterling will be looking to stay undefeated before going into the conference games of the season where al but one of the NCIC Northeast teams are undefeated as well. 7pm Iroquois has the highest points for/points
against ratio in the state at 50.5. They've racked up 101 points to
nothing. St. Joe's will be to stay undefeated in theSangamon Valley (Red)where 4 other teams have 2-0 records as well. Sat. 9/8 2pm This game was suppose to be played at Ekersall, but the hype set up a change of venue. Expect to see Mt. Carmel in the big game a few more times, as playing in the CMC Blue is as close to you can get to the playoffs before October.
Week #2 Game of the Week Sat 9/1 3pm So what's different this year? Joliet has a winning streak versus Mt. Carmel and they're no longer an underdog. This season it will be the only advantage or disadvantage for either team. Regardless who wins this one it's almost a guarantee that these two teams will butt heads once again if they both manage to stay in 6A for the playoffs. Things to watch for;
Friday 8/31 7:30pm Saturday 9/1 1pm
Week #1 Friday 8/24 7:45 pm 7:15 pm 7:30 Saturday 8/25 6pm @ Illinois Wesleyan University
