Kenny Burns and company did all they could to win, but even the forces of natire couldn't give SHG the win vs. Riverside-Brookfield.

Mother Nature Can't Stop Air Attack

Bloomington (Il. Wesleyan University)- After holding a lead for almost the entire game Saturday, the Bulldogs of Riverside (R.-Brookfield) looked to be in a bit of jam. With just 2:30 left in a game they were now behind 30-26 to the Cyclones of Scared Heart-Griffin and the sky opened up and it started to pour.

What started out looking like it had the makings for your classic big hype blowout, turned into what could be one of the top games of the weekend. R-B & Tim Brasic came out ready to throw & throwdown. Passing & rushing for over 500 yards .

Brasic connected with Matt Tierney for TD strikes of 19 & 25. Brandon Davis & Shatone Powers would each get a touchdown recption, but none as important as Davis' fourth quarter 12 yard touchdown catch with 2 minutes 16 seconds in a down pour of rain. SHG would turnover the ball over on downs after the kick off. Tierney would the score on an 11 yard TD run with 28.7 seconds remaining to give them an 8 point lead.

SHG got a lot of outstanding play from their bench as well as wide receiver/defensive back Matt Brewers. Brewers would pick of 3 of Brasic passes (one on a 2 point conversion) as well as catching two touchdown passes from Cyclone QB Jon Sunquist. Brewers managed all this while limping around and spending much of the 3rd quarter on the sidelines with his jersey of and stretching.

J.T. Wise & junior standout Kenny Burns would each collect a rushing touchdown.
