Fumblefest in Bloomington
Bloomington - Both Bloomington (#6 6A) and Danville scored during their first possessions Friday night at Fred Carlton Field in Bloomington. Bloomington scored first after only six plays, while Danville countered with a 75 yd. pass from Kendall Carter to Derrick Cunningham during their third play of the game.
Bloomington's Dushon Morris ran the ensuing kick-off back 72 yards to set-up the Raider's second touchdown score a few plays later during the first quarter. A third touchdown by the Purple Raiders during the second quarter sent both teams to the locker rooms with Bloomington leading 20-7.
The second half opened with a heavy downpour that did not let up until late in the fourth quarter. Bloomington did not throw a single pass during the second half, while Danville went 0-8 passing on the rain soaked field. Total offensive yardage for Bloomington was 286 yards, with Danville tallying 253 total yards. A fumble plagued game saw a total of six fumbles; three apiece for both teams. Bloomington lost all three fumbles, while Danville lost only one. Bloomington improved to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12, while Danville fell to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the Big 12.
