2005 Fans of the week !

Hey, we know it takes more to make a football game than just 22 guys in pads and leather balls.

This page is for the fans & cheerleaders who go above and beyond the call of duty.

Week #13
Edwardsville (H.S.)& The State of Illinois

This week we had to name two different groups fans of the week. First we have to give props to Edwardsville fans who drove from basically St. Louis to Chicago for a Friday night game against Mt. Carmel. Second goes out to fans of football in the state of Illinois. We know there were a lot of long time school fans for both Morris & Joliet Catholic, but we also know that we seen at least 20 different school jackets either in the stands or in the trees, in this over capacity crowd.

Week #12
Coal City

Coaler fans gave up on umbrellas, as the wind had the rain going sideways.

Week #11
Wheaton (W. Warrenville South)

The 2nd round playoff game between Downer Grove South & Wheaton Warrenville South seen a lot of rain. But while the game seemed to be in hand with the Tigers up 28-7 going into the 4th quarter, not only did these Tiger fans stick around, but they also managed to stay dry.

Week #10
Moweaqua (Central A &M)

CAM fans are some of the loudest fans when it comes to the small schools, the best part though is that they cheering section usually is made up of parents & alumni. Our hats go off to the over 18 crowd that will stand and yell for a whole game, cheering on a non-college or pro team.

Week #9
Lincolnshire (Stevenson)

Patriots fans were every where before Stevenson won this overtime game. Fans peacefully mob the players on the field in celebration afterwards.

Week #6
Chicago (Brother Rice)&Richmond (R.-Burton)

It's a 2 for 1 for the Fans of the Week section. With the rowdies in the endzone at Brother Rice making it one of the toughest end zones to be backed up against or red zone to score in we had to give them the nod, along with the R-B fans who make noise from the cheering section known as the "Launching Pad" .

Week #5
Midlothian (Bremen)

Head coach John Casson, said it was "the school's biggest win ever", if you look at the smile on this Brave's face & the pandemonium in the bleachers behind him, you might just have to agree.

Week #4
Downers Grove (South)

If you think you've seen body painting before like this, guess again. Senior Kevin Coffee & Jim Klonwski get a little help with the hard to reach spots from freshman football players Torre Parker & Tabouri Brown (41). Kevin & Jim let us in on their smurfie blue shine secrets before the game. "It's house paint." Well, at least it won't run if it starts to rain.

Week #3
Geneseo

In one of the craziest theme night ideas we've ever heard of. The Geneseo fans went crazy for spandex & the Maple Leafs as well, as they watch the Green Machine use ball control to slow down Cahokia's speedy offense.

Week #2
Maroa (M.-Forsyth)

We're not sure what his name is, but the Trojans Flag Man is this week #2's Fan of the Week. It doesn't look like it's hard work, but it must have been since he declined (while out of breath) to wave the flag again behind the cheerleaders for another photo.

Week #1
Chicago (Mt. Carmel)

While it would have been hard for a high school game to pack the stands at Solider Field, the Mt. Carmel cheering section far out weighed all the other team's crowds on the day.

Fairbury (Prairie Central)

Even if you don't think cheerleading is a sport, you have to give it to a bunch of girls who will stick it out on the sidelines wearing skirts while it rains, no matter what you think.
